While a lot of my shoots are with agency models, many people don't realise that many of them are not. Working with non-models can be more challenging, but in many ways, it is highly rewarding. One of the challenges of portrait photography is helping the subject to relax and be  comfortable in front of the lens so that their natural look can be conveyed.

My second shoot of the year was with Eleanor Green, a Melbourne based stylist who understands this well and it was an enjoyable experience working and creating this series together.

Eleanor was relaxed, charming and very comfortable in front of the camera and I would not hesitate to work with her again.

Kyotocat

I was contacted by American model Kyotocat to photograph her while she was travelling through Melbourne. These are just some of the results.

Hopefully we'll get a chance to work together again in the future.

Maxi

I've worked with Melbourne based musician and good friend Maxi on a number of occasions for her promotional work (some of which are scattered throughout this site), however for this shoot we decided to create a much more intimate and person style, using a mix of film and digital cameras.

You can check out her music here.

A Memory Away (Colour Version)

In colour or black and white, Lauren's quality always shows through.

In colour or black and white, Lauren's quality always shows through.

A few months ago I posted all black and white film images from my shoot with Lauren. During this shoot, I also shot colour Polaroid and digital images.

I felt the black and white worked better on their own and deserved their own post, so here are the colour ones together for the same reason.

A Memory Away

Soft light, film grain and Lauren as model makes the perfect combination.

This is the fourth shoot I have done with Lauren since meeting her mid 2013. Each and every time she has been easy to work with, and understands my concepts without needing much direction.

Looking forward to many more collaborations in 2014.

I shot a mix of film and digital during this shoot, however I felt the film shots work better on their own. Will post the digital pics in the future.
